Many home assessments are available to consumers and professionals to identify an individual’s home modification needs. When selecting an assessment, it is important to consider what population the tool was designed to assess, and by whom the assessment was designed to be administered.
The inventory below, developed by the USC Fall Prevention Center of Excellence with the National Council on Aging, includes two sections. The first section highlights home assessments designed to be administered by professionals, with details such as where to find the assessment, what population it was developed to assess, and its format and length of time to administer. The second section includes checklists for individuals and their caregivers to use to identify areas of the home that may benefit from home modification.
